Fellow at the Office of Evaluation Sciences and Political Science and Statistics Professor

Jake is Secretary and co-founder of r4i. He's also an active advisor for our team of matchmakers. He often works with the Office of Evaluation Sciences in the US Federal Government in addition to teaching political science and statistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Betsy Brunner
Communications and Engagement Director

Betsy joins our matchmaking team in 2021, and is the Communication and Engagement Director at the South Yuba River Citizens League in Nevada City, CA. In her previous work she was a professor of communication who studied the use of social media among environmental activists, and has always had a keen interest in institutionalizing better connections between research and practice.

Logan Casey
Senior Policy Researcher and Advisor

Logan joins our matchmaking team in 2021. He's the Senior Policy Researcher and Advisor with the Movement Advancement Project. He conducts original research and creates accessible policy resources to benefit organizations throughout the U.S. working to advance LGBTQ equality. He lives and breathes connections between research, policy, and practice.

Elizabeth Day
Policy Engagement Director

Elizabeth helps with special projects we're engaged with at research4impact. She's also the Assistant Director for Policy Engagement at Cornell's Project 2Gen. With expertise in child and family public policy in the United States, she has also done some of the most cutting-edge work on how state and local policymakers value and use social science research.

Shana Kushner Gadarian
Public policy and political science professor

Shana is an active advisor to our matchmaking team, and also a faculty member at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Sarah Gollust
Health Policy and Management Professor

Sarah is an active advisor to our team of matchmakers. She's also a health policy and management professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, as well as a former associate director of the Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program, a program that creates new research collaborations between universities and community organizations to improve health equity.  

Donald P. Green
Political Science Professor

Don is Vice President and co-founder of r4i, and an active advisor to our matchmaking team. He's also a political science professor at Columbia University, and has been one of the leaders of EGAP (Evidence in Governance and Politics), an organization that often builds new partnerships between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.

Hahrie Han
Director of the Agora Institute and Political Science Professor

Hahrie is an active advisor to our team of matchmakers. She's also the Inaugural Director of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute and a political science professor at Johns Hopkins. She frequently partners with organizers, advocates, and community groups to conduct new research projects.

Malliga Och
Global Studies and Languages Professor

Malliga joins our matchmaking team in 2021. She's a professor of global studies at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID, with particular interest in women and politics. She has, and actively continues to, work closely with several nonprofit organizations as well.

Beatriz Rey
Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University & the U.S. Congress

Beatriz Rey is a Visiting Fellow at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University and a 2021-2022 APSA Congressional Fellow, and has a Ph.D. in political science. Her previous experience as a journalist in Latin America has made her committed to connecting researchers and practitioners in the region.

Madison Shumway
Digital Content Strategist

Madison is Extremely Online, running social media accounts for political and health care non-profits. She has a background in journalism, marketing, and research, previously studying politicians' experiences of social media harassment.
